1-day Tours
Cochasqui Ruins and 3 Forests
Early morning, we depart from the Lodge in our private car, bound for Mojanda Paramo located at 3,800 meters (12,467 feet) above sea level. Here you can savor the freshness of the Andean paramo and the beautiful scenery of the Mojanda Lagoons, and Fuya Fuya and Yanahurco mountains. We will descend from the paramo to tour the second Andean forest, where we take a short interpretive wildlife walk, and then visit the Cochasquí Ruins interpretive center. This place was an astronomical site of immense importance to the Quitu-Cara culture during the pre-Inca era. On this site, the community will serve us a traditional meal. In the afternoon, we return to the Lodge to rest and prepare for the journey of our third Andean Dry Forest, by hiking and learning about its flora and fauna.

To climb to its summit, we must cross a short, steep grassland, and then climb across the rocks. From there, we will have an incomparable view of the chain and its lagoons.
After visiting Fuya Fuya, we will continue our trip to Otavalo market, which is the largest and most important of Ecuador. There we will have time to mill around, meet its people and traditions, and shop for souvenirs. In the afternoon, we will drive back to the lodge.
